I finally got over myself this morning, and just sent an e-mail to the guy I met on Friday. After getting an e-mail from a girl I'd met the same night (and obviously had no hang-ups about just writing to), I figured I should just pretend the Friday guy was a girl and send a nice friendly note.

Funny enough, he wrote back straight away saying, "Enjoyed meeting and meant to be in touch. I definitely agree that we should meet for a drink! Have quite a hectic few days and away this weekend but have your business card on my table at home and will be in touch."

Hmmm...according to the tenents of the book "He's Just Not That Into You", the lack of willingness to drop everything and rush out with me immediately (coupled with the failure to be the first to get in touch) implies he's not that interested, but then again I'm learning that the lessons of that book are somewhat mis-applied when it comes to British men. As while the book argues that men should behave in a slightly stalker-ish manner if they're interested in you, it seems that British men are still approaching women in the manner of 13-year old boys, except they can no longer yank a girl's pigtails to indicate their interest in her.

Still, obviously I have no idea what I'm doing either when it comes to boys. Met another nice Magdalene chap on that same Friday night, and suggested we do drinks sometime in the most casual, "maybe with friends sometime" manner, and hence was surprised to get a reply looking to nail down a date quite firmly. I didn't see that one coming...

Probably will get together anyway, as he seemed like a nice chap (and from Magdalene!) except that I did the math, and if he matriculated as an undergrad in 2003, that makes him about 24-25, right? About the same age as my ex. One would think that I should have learned my lesson from that one already. On the other hand, I've never dated a man older than I am, so why start now?

I then had a great moment of clarity however, when as I was changing to head out to gym class, and I got an unexpected call from Gay Scottish Guy, just calling to catch up. He asked me the same question I feel like a lot of people are asking these days, "So whatever happened with that guy?" and I gave him the response I'm giving nearly everyone: "Which guy?" I really have the attention span of a gnat when it comes to men, don't I? If you really want a little bit of fun, just count up all of the guys who have appeared in this blog, and I haven't even been keeping it for three months!

So that begs the question: Should I perhaps hold my tongue more and not talk about all of these men and flirtations, to only talk about those who turn out to be significant? My friend Naz is like that, I swear she'll be married before I even know she's dating anyone.

Yet, I think when people ask about my romantic life, I just share whatever is going on, because I don't want them to worry that I'm alone and single. I'm the classic "plenty of fish in the sea" kind of girl, eternally optimistic about the possibilities out there, but yet not too bothered when they don't work out.

Plus, without the stories about all of the boys, this blog wouldn't be nearly as much fun to read, now would it?
