Primarni

A friend is having a "Rubik's Cube" party tomorrow night, where apparently you are supposed to wear one item each of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and white clothing, and then trade with other people throughout the course of the evening, until you are wearing all one colour. Interesting theme, although the host did warn us that it meant we were unlikely to get our clothes back at the end of the evening, so we should visit charity shops or other cheap clothing shops to do a little bit of shopping.

On Tuesday, talking with my friend Sarah at the run, we decided that we should make a trip together to go shopping for cheap clothes for the party. So on Thursday after work, we headed out to Primark, or "Primarni" as it is affectionately known by the locals in England. Primarni is a shop notorious for it's cheap clothing (seriously, many things costing just £1), which makes it quite unusual for a city like London, where everything seems to cost an arm and a leg.

Being so cheap, it's apparently a popular destination for shoppers, particularly right after work at the flagship store on Oxford Street. I had never been to this particular store before, so Sarah and I had quite a time weaving through the crowds (we lost each other so many times, it's not even funny) looking for various cheap and multi-coloured items of clothing.

At one point, Sarah swore she spotted another mutual friend of ours in the distance in the store, although we were never able to confirm that it was him. But apparently this is the go-to place for fancy dress parties, as I can't imagine why else any store would be selling cheap tiaras!

In the end, my six items ended up costing just £7.40, and Sarah did even better with a haul costing just £5.90. So it shall be interesting to see what everybody wears to the party tomorrow night!
