Seating Plan

I woke up in the morning with the worst feeling: That tell-tale tickle in your throat, the creeping soreness and the slightly stuffed nose that portends the worst: You are getting sick, right when you don't have the time to be sick!

Luckily the Tube strike was going to force me to work from home anyway, so at least I could stay at home and try my best to rest up and get better. Not much luck with that, but I did try to take it as easy as possible.

In the evening however, I had to make my way out through the Tube strike to the club, as Tristan, Doro and I were meeting up to work on the seating plan for Friday's dinner. It took me a while to get there (and it was a trick to figure out a club-appropriate outfit that I could still walk in), but once I went through the massive front doors of the club, I suddenly remembered so much why I love it there. It was just this wonderful feeling of relaxation and peace, as soon as I walked through the door, secure in the knowledge that I was at home in this wonderful old place.

I quickly found Doro and Tristan upstairs in the library with a bottle of claret, so I grabbed a glass and we set to work, putting everyone's name on pieces of paper and shuffling them around. We actually got it done in about an hour, although I think next time I shall bring blue and pink Post-It notes, as that would have made things so much easier than all of these little slips of paper!

Once we'd written it all down and left a final chart at the front desk, Doro headed off one way, and Tristan and I made our way back to the Tube station. As we walked, he asked me about my dating life, as apparently Doro had been filling him in on my mis-adventures from last Friday. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about that, because whilst Tristan is one of my dearest friends, he's also a guy who I don't entirely see as a completely platonic friend. (Translation: Tristan is cute and nice, so I certainly wouldn't rule him out).

Still, we had a lovely chat about all these options with the silly boy, and he talked as well about a girl he's seen a few times, but who is impossibly busy and hard to make plans with, and so he's unsure of what that really means. Indeed, it all sounds like we're getting somewhere, but not as far as we'd like to go in our dating lives...

Eventually the buses to take us home finally appeared, so we kissed each other good-bye, and just looked forward to seeing each other again on Friday!
