I have often enjoyed the style of NYMag's "Sex Diaries" as a way of recounting one's day, so every so often I like using the "time-stamp" format to recap mine:
9:15 AM: Wake up, realising I've terribly overslept for a normal work day, but luckily have still woken up in time to go to Body Pump at my gym at 10 AM.
10:00 AM: Arrive at the gym for Body Pump. Exchange smiles and grimaces at the harder points of the workout with another girl who is a regular who I always see at this class. After about five months of seeing each other regularly, we've never once said a word to each other.
11:00 AM: Notice that I've burned 350 calories from the Body Pump class, so hop on the elliptical machine for 15 minutes to bring it up to an even 500.
11:30 AM: I spot my Body Pump instructor in the grocery store, as I've gone to pick up a few things for lunch. I guess everyone's hungry after the gym.
11:45 AM: I'm home cooking lunch, when Gay Scottish Guy randomly calls me. It's a surprise and a delight to hear from him, and he updates me on the latest news of his job hunt up in Scotland. We have an interesting debate about how companies will screw you over, but it's not personal, it's business. Explain that's why I've taken the whole morning off to go to the gym, and he needs to feel okay with leaving a company with no notice when they've low-balled him on salary in the first place. Only be loyal to companies who have been loyal to you in the first place, to do otherwise just means you're a chump.
2:00 PM: Decide after running laundry, showering, answering personal e-mails and making my bed, that perhaps it's not a terrible idea to do some work. Schedule some calls, answer a few e-mails.
2:45 PM: Realise I am not in posession of my iPad cord and charger. E-mail the Young Dutchman, who returned my iPad to me on Thursday. He replies that he gave them back to me.
3:00 PM: E-mail the club, fervently hoping that they have the charger and cord.
5:00 PM: Hear back from the club. No they don't. Annoyed at myself, decide it's obviously punishment from the universe and a sign to quit drinking.
6:00 PM: Conference call with woman in California that I scheduled earlier. It's dull, but gets through the material we need to get through.
7:20 PM: Realise that I should leave the house now if I want to go to the evening Body Pump class. Somehow laziness overwhelms me and I don't go anywhere.
8:24 PM: The guy from the flat I went to see on Saturday e-mails me to tell me the flat is taken. Hmmm... I had not considered the fact that people in the flats I went to see might not pick ME, as well as me not wanting to live in their flats.
11:00 PM: It's been a long day of not doing much, time to go to bed!
