My brother was shooting a wedding all day today (he frequently serves as the "second shooter" for a friend who is a wedding photographer, as a way to earn some extra money and also develop his photographic skills), so it was a day to be spent with only my sister-in-law and my niece, although it was fun to hang out with them even without my brother around.
In the morning my father and I went for a walk, looking for hiking trails around our cottage, but we didn't find too much, and were mercilessly eaten by mosquitoes. Hence I was glad when my sister-in-law called and suggested that we all go out to the farmer's market before it shut down at noon.
Hence, we went over to her house and got ourselves all ready to go out to the farmer's market, a small affair in a local school parking lot, but with plenty of delicious looking tomatoes and corn to be had.
After we had loaded up on fresh vegetables, we stopped at the Beach Pea Cafe on the way home, to get some sandwiches for lunch. Whilst my mother had run inside to order the sandwiches, my sister-in-law asked if I would start the car to run the A/C, as it was getting a bit hot for the baby. When at first the car failed to start, my sister-in-law suggested I needed to press down on the clutch (I never know how to work manual transmission cars), but still the car didn't start. Finally my sister-in-law tried and we realised that we were in a pickle, the car was definitely not starting! I apologized for somehow breaking the car (my sister-in-law assured me it wasn't me, that I hadn't broken the car), but we had to call AAA and hope they could send somebody to help us!
Luckily, we had sandwiches and a place in the shade to eat our lunch, so we did so, and luckily AAA turned to have over-estimated how long it would take for someone to arrive (they'd said an hour-and-a-half, this guy arrived in about 20 minutes), and luckily he got us all going again. A bit of a misadventure for the day, but luckily it all turned out well!

We then went out to the cottage in Kittery where I was staying with my parents, to just hang out somewhere a bit cooler and avoid the air show that was going on near my brother's house. Although normally I would be excited to have a free front-row seat to see the Blue Angels flying overhead, with the baby it wasn't really the best thing! In the end, we spent a few hours just enjoying the relative peace and quiet, with no F-15s buzzing the house.
After the baby managed to go through two diapers and there was nothing more clean to change her into, we went back to my brother's house for a change and to cook dinner. Got dinner going, had a lovely meal, and then left my sister-in-law to try for an early bedtime for both her and the baby, as it had been quite a day!
