First RAC Drinks of Christmas

At work, this guy Will Facebook-messaged me to see if I was going to this drinks party at the RAC tonight. Indeed I was, so I told him I would see him there. I noticed with a raised eyebrow later that he wasn't actually on the invite list (which you know for me, gate-crashing is a big no-no), but then I also paused to consider that it was about the 5th event that Will had checked with me recently to see if I were going to be there.

When I was at drinks with Caroline a month ago, she'd noticed the two of us chatting by the fireplace and told me later, "That guy you were chatting to was really into you!" I dismissed it, because I'd never felt anything for Will. I mean, he's an objectively handsome guy, but for whatever reason I just can't imagine kissing him. But I do wonder at times, as he pays me a fair bit of attention...

As I headed out the door, it seemed quite windy, and so I paused a moment and considered bringing an umbrella. But because I am an idiot, I walked out without one. You can probably imagine what's coming next...

All of my efforts to do my hair in some pretty curls were quickly for naught, as I arrived at the RAC looking like a drowned rat. That will teach me to ever walk out of the house without an umbrella ever again!

When I arrived, I greeted the hosts, and pretty shortly afterwards was joined by Will who, ever the gentleman, instantly got me a drink. I chatted to him for a while and circulated around a bit, but the truth was it was just a lot of familiar faces, but none I was particularly keen on chatting with. I checked my watch at 9:30 and thought about leaving, and if I'd had any sense, I absolutely would have done so.

Instead, I stayed, made polite small talk with a few more people, and before I knew it they were closing the bar, as it was 1 AM. I hadn't thought I'd had that much to drink, but suddenly it really hit me, and exactly how I got home is a bit fuzzy. I did so safely however, as I woke up in my flat the next morning with quite the headache and an admonishment to keep a closer eye on what I'm drinking in the future!
