Today was going to be my one day of December without Christmas activities, but why not fill up that day too? So last Tuesday when I was talking to Matt and Cookie, we decided we should all get together for a Sunday pub lunch.
I caught the Overground train down to Clapham Junction, and was surprised to find that even with connections, it took me only a little over a half-hour to make it to the pub, even as I had always protested that Clapham is miles away.
Arrived at the pub just a few minutes late, and was immediately greeted by Matt. The pub was quite spacious with many rooms, and we found a nice high table in a room with a real roaring fire, it was just what we might have hoped for.
Matt fetched us both drinks, and we were joined in a bit by Cookie and her twin sister, Hannah. (Thank goodness Cookie dyes her hair a bit blonder than Hannah, otherwise I'd never be able to tell the two of them apart!)
In the end, it was just one of those perfect pub lunch afternoons, with lots of rambling conversation about nothing in particular, but a great time to enjoy the company of your really good friends. We did wrap it all up by 3 PM, after we'd had a few pints but were still steady on our feet, just feeling like we'd shared the good wishes and warm fuzzies of the great festive season. What a great day with friends...
