Committee Meeting

I made it back to London this morning, a bit later than expected, for although the flight boarded on time, we were almost two hours delayed in taking off. Not too much to worry about though, as I just watched "The Social Network" whilst waiting for the flight to take off. Good movie, although it was a bit obvious where they had taken liberties with the truth of the story. Still, as Poppa always said, "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story", and the fictionalized account was indeed excellent story-telling.

Due to a bad cough and cold I was fighting for the entire trip, my head felt like it was going to explode on the decent, and I found that I was incredible sensitive to altitude changes throughout the entire flight. Generally within 30 seconds of my head going off, a baby would start crying somewhere on the plane. I was like, "Me and you both, kid...."

Somehow survived the work day without a nap (I had a presentation due), and then in the evening headed out to the club for the Younger Member's Committee meeting. I was sort of dreading the meeting, wondering what the fallout from the drinks would be, so you can imagine my surprise when the committee chair said, "I hear your drinks were a wonderful success?" Wait, what?

Turns out what I had perceived as an absolute disaster was being bandied about as a total success, and everyone was thrilled with me. I tried my best to just keep my head down, mumble, and plead my incredibly obvious jet-lag as an excuse for not saying much more. Glad to find that this was the reaction, however!!
