In the morning, I had to note with some consternation that I'd e-mailed Doro at 3 AM to tell her about the guy I'd met the night before, although of course she laughed that my first instinct had been to write to her at that hour. Yet I guess I tempted fate a bit too much, so sure that he would call today after such a fun and magical night before.
Of course, he did not call.
I was thankful that my head was in fine shape in the morning, although I felt a bit disoriented throughout the day. Plus, I suppose there was the constant checking and wondering, "Was he going to call?"
So the whole day passed without much going on, I really didn't even do nearly as much work as I should have. And I was so tired after the night before, I just wanted to go to bed early and call it a day.
You can imagine my surprise then, at around 9 PM, when the Young Dutchman caught me on GChat to tell me he was at a Burns Night Supper at Inner Temple (I think I'd known he was going), and trying to get me to come out for drinks at the Caledonian later. Of course, I was tired and at home, all tucked up in my bed, the last thing I wanted to do at this hour was go out. Yet I was amused that in the middle of a ball, he was writing to me? Hence I urged him to put down the Blackberry and go back to paying attention to the real-live guests who were right in front of him, not me, the girl who was only online. Yet he protested he could multi-task, and continued to try and convince me to come out later. So I protested that the Head of Inter-Club was to blame, as he'd kept me out so late.
Turns out that the Head of Inter-Club was at the same party, and suddenly the Young Dutchman was coming back to me with, "McDonald's at 3 AM, I hear? Tsk tsk". That made me laugh, although I was pretty impressed that the Head of Inter-Club was out and partying the next day after our crazy night the night before.
Yet it must have been a terribly dull party, for the next thing I knew, the Head of Inter-Club was texting me too! Telling me, "I hear u r feeling delicate - poor! Clearly not enough practice. I expect to c u in the cally later!" Well, I was amused by this and replied that my head was fine and I was just tired, but "I guess I HAVE to come out now..." to which I got "Yes you do. No excuses and that is not what I hear - I have my sources!"
I really did not expect to have to come out, but wrote him, "Okay, let me know when you're headed out and I'll cab it over. But know that I'm coming out specially just for you!!" which got me, "Why...is {dashing British boy} busy tonight?" Oh dear, so yes, he'd totally been aware of what was going on the night before!
Figured I might as well just go with the truth, so replied that "{dashing British boy} hasn't gotten in touch, the silly boy! You'll have to explain men's thinking on that one when I see you..." And then thankfully that was the last I heard, so I turned over and went to bed, before being awoken at 4 AM by the message, "I am so sorry - I totally forgot to tell u we were heading onto the rac instead." Oh boys, didn't you realise that there was no way I was coming out at that point, for I was totally exhausted and just wanted to sleep? Still, he sounded so wonderfully apologetic, I assured him that he didn't need to worry about it.
In the end, somewhat dissappointed that I didn't go out, but at least honest enough to admit that I was way too tired to have been much fun even if I'd managed to put in an appearance. But it made my evening to know that even if there are some boys out there who don't call me, there are others who are ever eager to see me. Thank goodness for boys like that!
