I stayed home sick today, curled up on my sofa and running through toilet paper as tissue. Ugh. I'm still just not getting any better... Work just flew by, as every time I attempted to get something done, I'd get dragged into another call or something that needed my attention, and I just couldn't seem to get anything accomplished.
The Tall South African called me near the end of my work day, but I was so distracted (and also trying not to deliver a hacking cough into his ear), that we didn't talk for long before he just told me, "I think I'll let you go..."
In the evening, there was really no chance that I was going to running, as I was too far behind on work and really just too sick. At least I was able to make some better use of that time by finally signing up for the "Life in the UK" exam, which I need to pass in order to apply for my Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK. Managed to get a test date for March 6th, so snapped it up and realised I need to start studying.
I found myself continually dragged into more and more work, so when the Tall South African called a second time, I was grateful for the distraction. Just had fun joking around with him as usual (he told me funny stories about being at London Fashion Week and thinking the models were much too thin to really be sexy), and about going out to gay bars, where he pointed out that the girls were so desperate for attention that guys could easily pick up women who were way out of their league. When I laughed and asked what the equivalent place was for women, he just replied, "For you? That's ANYWHERE! Any bar, any cafe, any spot on the street!" I had to laugh, as his comments about my self-confidence I sometimes think are over-stated (trust me, I have my moments of insecurity, as I was about to discover), but I will admit, it's nice knowing people like me.
And then when I was pestering him about coming down to London again, he told me that he couldn't this weekend, "because [Girl's Name] is coming up this weekend, so I think we'll go up to Cambridge or something." And I kind of flipped out a bit, trying to play it cool but wondering, "Who is this girl who he's spending an entire weekend with?"
Checked his Facebook later (I know, Facebook stalking is so bad), and saw that [Girl's Name] is his sister. And I was then mortified. First, that I'd even let something like that bother me (he's 23-years old for cripes sake! Must remember that I can't really date him!) and then that I'd been even ever-so-slightly jealous of his sister.
That's definitely a wake-up call. Must devote MUCH more time and attention to meeting a more suitable boy, as this one is obviously taking up too much of my mental energy at the moment. Definitely, definitely, definitely need to find a different boy to pay attention to.
Although that item of business would be much easier if I could manage to get rid of this cold first!
