Comedy at the RAC

Tonight was a performance of "The Comedy Store" at the RAC, the first Inter-Club event since the end of the summer. As I arrived, I joked with people that it felt like a "Back to School" night, as I hadn't seen most of these people since Henley. It was a chance to ask how everyone's summer had been, remark on new outfits, and just exchange a few laughs. I was surprised at the number of boys who seemed absolutely delighted to see me, stopping mid-stride to circle back and talk to me, but that is part of the appeal of these events for me anyway. Everybody loves to see me!

I found myself chatting with a super nice Scottish boy I know, whose sister is a member of the Lansdowne. (She is incredibly sweet as well). The Scottish boy introduced me to a friend of his from school, which whom I felt this instant "zap" of electricity. After the Very Nice Blind Date, who was so nice but with no chemistry, was nice to meet someone where I felt a zing of chemistry. Admittedly, it wasn't "I think you're my soulmate" kind of chemistry, but more "I think you're attractive and would like to sleep with you" kind of chemistry, but I'll take feeling attracted to ANYONE right now, as it hasn't happened in a while. As it happened, he was good about keeping my wine glass full and keeping me entertained all evening, so I'll take it.

So at the start of the evening, I chatted to him pretty much non-stop, and it turns out he was on my table as well. Alas, when I went to sit down, he was opposite me, and I was in-between the Social Dutch Girl and the Chinese Model. The Social Dutch Girl I met through the Young Dutchman, and has turned out to be quite the social butterfly, a good person to know if you want to get into nearly every event there is going. The Chinese Model is from my own club, and sweet enough, but always seems horrified by the fact that I am single. I have no idea why it bothers her so much when it troubles me so little, but I think it's because something in her brain doesn't like that a smart, beautiful girl should be unattached. And so, the conversation on each side continued on that vein, with lots of vague conversation with the Social Dutch Girl explaining why I couldn't make it to various events, and the Chinese Model pestering me about my romantic life and asking me what I'm looking for. (No idea, to be honest). When I attempted to deflect and turn the conversation back on her, it turns out that she was actually dating the guy sitting on her other side, Immanuel. Who is an okay guy, I suppose (certainly rich as Croesus), but in truth I find him rather annoying. But hey, if she likes him, I suppose that's all that matters. But I have to admit I was certainly quite surprised to learn that!

The first half of the improv comedy show was pretty funny, and then during the break I went to chat to the Head of Inter-Club for a bit (always a nice guy), and then came back to sit with the Scottish Boy's School Friend. He continued to entertain as usual. Since I'd moved seats, I ended up sharing a chair with Scottish Boy himself for a bit, who I'll admit I think is rather cute, but he's so timid, that he perched on the other half of the chair as though afraid to accidentally touch me, and then went and grabbed his own chair at the earliest opportunity.

The show ended somewhat abruptly when a particular skit failed to generate a lot of laughs, but everyone just shrugged and headed down to the bar for drinks. As per usual, I didn't spend a penny all evening, as the boys of the RAC are so good at taking care of me. One of the first boys to buy me a drink was this guy Tristan, who ever since he revealled that he's engaged and I turned out to be cool and fun to chat to anyway, he's so much more relaxed around me. It was good to feel like I finally had his friendship. I chatted with tons of people in the bar, probably drank too much because boys kept buying me drinks every time I turned around. As such, I absolutely failed to leave at a timely hour, until it was past 1 AM. At that point I felt a bit stuck in the conversation I was in, so I shouted out and got Scottish Boy's School Friend to drag me out of there, holding my hand. He then probably thought I would come with him to Maggie's, but anybody who knows me knows that I hate nightclubs, and just wanted to go home. So once Scottish Boy's School Friend had dragged me out of the bar, I left to go grab my coat to head home. There all of the crowds were figuring out where to go next, and I saw that G was upset about some boy, saying that one should never get involved with boys in Clubland. She really is overly dramatic at times, I think. Who can imagine getting that upset over a boy? I got my coat, and got on my way home... Nightbus had me home by 2:00 AM...far too late, but after a good night out!
