Hurricane Earl

Today Long Island was supposed to be battered by Hurricane Earl, a Category 4 hurricane that was working its way up the East Coast of the US.

In the end it barely even rained, much less were there any gale force winds, but it was still a somewhat gloomy day at work. Hence, at around 1 PM I decided I'd had enough of this "work" nonsense, and went over to my friend Michelle's house.

Michelle and I have been friends since high school, and she is currently at home on maternity leave with her adorable daughter Lilliana (3 months) and her son Ryan (17 months). So having two kids under 2-years old is kind of hectic, but the kids are sweet. Ryan is Mr. Super-Social, and greeted me with a hug and a kiss as soon as I arrived (even though I'm sure he had no idea who I was), and Lilliana seems to have recovered from the digestive troubles that were bothering her when I saw her two months ago, and was now the absolute picture of a happy baby.

I spent most of my time playing with Ryan (he deviously hugs you in a most adorable manner when he wants something from you) and holding Lil for a bit, while chatting and catching up with my friend. Overall, a super-fun afternoon. I only had to go home after we couldn't get the Wi-Fi at my friend's house to work, and so I couldn't use my iPad to keep track of my e-mails. After all, I was maintaining some fiction that I was actually working, so I had to at least be mildly responsive to e-mail. There wasn't much awaiting me when I got home, so it was just a lovely day off really, with some rain thrown in!
