I woke up in the morning quite surprised to find that the tickets to the Inter-Club Christmas Ball had been released! Although in a departure from usual practice, instead of simply e-mailing to book in a ticket, I had to actually call the Hurlingham Club. It took quite a few tries before I could even get through to be placed on hold, but once I did, I progressed through quite quickly, the woman took all of my information, and in a few minutes told me I had a ticket. This is why I hate doing things on the phone however, for at the end I had no e-mail or anything I could point to that confirmed I hadn't just imagined it all. But, I guess I just have to trust that they did indeed book me in for dinner in December...
While I was taking care of club tasks, I decided to call my own club and book in for dinner with two friends on Thursday, and then while I was on the phone, book for dinner with four friends in two weeks. This Thursday's dinner is with two old friends from Magdalene, Joel (whom I adore) and an American girl who was at Magdalene at the same time we were. Then in two weeks, will be taking a whole bunch of girls (including my old flatmate) out to the club. I think it will be fun, because while it's not their usual scene, I'm sure they're the types to just enjoy it all.
Finally in the evening, I had drinks at the club on my calendar, but overweight-yet-attractive guy (the one who had originally proposed the drinks) had never confirmed, and it was a cold and windy night...just perfect for staying in. So can you blame me that I decided to skip it? I'm out most of the rest of the week (and even at my club on Thursday), so I figure one night off won't hurt!
