After being out so late the night before, I slept in until noon, having a very slow day and not even bothering to shower. Sometimes, you just need a slow Sunday like that.
In the evening, I was on the phone with the Tall South African when Qatari Boy popped up online. And I couldn't deny, that I'd sort of been hoping all day that he might show up online to talk to me. Although I was hugely surprised when he said, "fancy sharing a film? I could drop by. (extremely un-English and frightfully forward of me )"
Ugh, he picks today, of all days, when I'm still battling a cold and haven't showered all day? My goodness, that boy has a sense of timing... We did go back and forth for a bit, that he would arrive in about an hour, which I figured would give me time to shower and pick up. And I did start to pick up as I continued to talk on the phone to the Tall South African, who was moaning about Caroline once again. Yet, eventually I realised I was being truly rubbish at the multi-tasking, hung up with him and did what I should have done a long time ago, and just called Qatari Boy.
Funny to hear him, as his voice is so deep and rumbling, and yet with the traces of the Essex boy that he is. Perhaps not as educated as I'd like, but then again, I don't really know what I want from him anyway. And as we spoke, we agreed that we both wanted to see each other, but perhaps tonight, when he was exhausted and I hadn't showered and needed to go to the office tomorrow, wasn't the best day for it. So, leaving him promising to call me to arrange a meet-up soon, I let him be.
Yet, once I hung up we continued to chat online, where I found it funny that he assured me, "And while I may come across as annoyingly inactive, you can rest assured that I haven't shared a bed with anyone, since I left yours."
Strangely, that thought hadn't even occurred to me, or even bothered me in the least. I don't know, it's just like I'm not even sure at this point how much I like him, and don't exactly feel a lot of loyalty to him yet.
I worry a bit, as he said, "My single biggest issue is trust. I love honesty and loyalty in a lady. Though you do have a gift for putting my mind at ease. And that is what very few others can do."
So I worry about whether I'm just playing games with him, because underneath it all he does seem like a nice guy. And whether or not we actually suit, I need to remember that he's a boy with feelings, and I need to be careful of those.
Finally, I called back the Tall South African, as I wanted to talk more to him. And he went back and forth a bit about how he liked his girlfriend, but thought at times that he had more in common with Caroline. And I don't really know what to tell him, because I honestly think he's got a better shot with Caroline, they just strike me as being more similar. Yet, he does want to be loyal to his girlfriend, he's just confused in this long-distance relationship.
I told him about the funny mix-up with Canadian Balliol Guy last night, and the woman who thought we were in a relationship. Yet, for all that we get along, I have to realise that he never seeks me out, he never makes an effort for it to be just the two of us. So why shouldn't I explore things with Qatari Boy and at least have a little bit of fun while I wait for Canadian Balliol Guy to get his act together and decide what he wants?
Because as the Tall South African said to me, what he wants is to somehow be in a relationship while still being able to do what he wants. Which is, quite frankly, I think what we all want. I don't wish to surrender my single state in case something better comes along, but how long then will I be single and waiting?
