Welcome Mom and Dad

My parents have finally arrived in London, their first visit EVER!!

It was a rough night the night before, because I was frantically trying to finish work before my parents arrived (worst part about having a flexible job, your boss can make you work from home until 4 AM), and also because I'd had the silly idea to try and make chicken stock that night. Perhaps not the worst idea ever, except that my flatmate had a friend over to stay for the night, and I needed to let the chicken stock boil down for a few hours. So I ended up tip-toeing past the sleeping friend in the living room at 2:30 AM, and trying to drain the stock in the kitchen as silently as I could. Rather ridiculous, on the whole!!)

Anwyay, after getting to bed at 4 AM, I was up again at 7, and making my way to the airport. I stood out by the arrivals area with all of the limo drivers holding the signs with the various names of people they were waiting for, except that my sign said simply "Mom and Dad." Of course, as people kept coming out into the arrivals area, they pointed to my sign and laughed, thinking it was hysterical that somebody would be standing there waiting for "Mom and Dad".

Finally my parents came out, and they got a good laugh out of the sign too!!

I brought my parents back to my place, fixed them some lunch, and then sent them back to their hotel while I finished out my work day. Then in the evening, we went out with my flatmate for dinner, and had a great time as my flatmate entertained my parents with stories. My flatmate is a brilliant girl, loads of fun to live with, and so it was great to show my parents why I enjoy having such a cool girl to live with here!!

Finally in the evening, sent my parents back to my hotel, and my flatmate and I stayed up chatting a bit (as we often do, which far too often leads us to being exhausted in the morning after we get to bed too late!) and then finally packed it off to bed, the end of a very long day!
