I spent most of the day in Regents Park, having a picnic with my parents, and then in the evening we went to a performance by the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, as part of the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall.
The "Proms" are not what we think of as an American high school leaver's dance, but rather are short for "Promenade", as they leave the entire front section in front of the orchestra open, and people can "promenade" or stand, and see the performance for a mere £5.
The concert was really lovely, and the venue amazing. And of course I had fun watching the people in the percussion section, being amazed that one woman's entire job seemed to be to tap these wooden rattle things very quickly. Another guy did nothing but "ting" the triangle when needed. I guess there are specialists in this world, and then there's the percussion section.
