CBDG Gets Me Running Again

Being ill and unable to drink, I really had no intentions to go running this evening. After all, who would want to go out in the cold and dark to go run when feeling like this?

However, at around 3 PM, I was surprised when an e-mail popped up to my work account from CBDG. "Are you going tonight? It is a lovely day so you have no excuse for coming out (although it will be dark but that isn't the point!)"

Now what kind of girl can say no to a personal appeal like that? So I agreed that I would see him later. Which seemed to make him quite delighted, particularly as he noted in his response "I'll be there about 7, probably having a pint before the run as I've had a rubbish day at work. In fact it has been dreadful full stop! Blinking Olympics." Made me giggle.

So at 6 PM, I got off my arse and went out to the run. Was greeted by quite a few people who noted it had been some time since they'd seen me, and felt quite thoroughly welcomed back. Even took my time to find CBDG, as I was enjoying talking to others so much. By the time I finally did make it over to greet CBDG in fact, it was just about time to set out on the run.

Which, when we started running, I was suddenly noting how tight my lungs seemed (perhaps the effect of my lingering cough?) and how queasy I felt (the effects of taking my meds on an empty stomach, not with food like recommended?) I kept up with the group reasonably for a while, and then suddenly after about 20 minutes decided I'd had it. So instead I went to the local Sainsbury's, got some sandwiches (that did make me feel better), and then slowly made my way back to the pub, arriving just as the rest of the group was beginning to return. Good timing.

I had a ginger ale (in a continued attempt to settle my stomach) and talked to Kitty for a while. Finally went out and joined CBDG in the circle, and enjoyed chatting to him, until he decided he wanted to scoot off early. So he gave me a card to give to haberdash, and then gave me a kiss on each cheek and promised me that he'd be in touch about the two of us going to dinner soon. That last bit surprised me a bit, but I always do enjoy dinner with him, so smiled and told him I looked forward to it.

I stayed for a bit longer, before heading out around 9:30. I checked my iPhone and saw a message from my mother saying that they were planning on going out to dinner for my father's birthday at what would be 10 PM my time, so I quickly paused to call and wish him a happy birthday. A good chat with my dad, although humorous in that he spent half the time with me on the phone going over his menu options for what he would have for dinner that evening. Definitely know what's important to my dad!

When I hung up, I was pleased to see that the Sainsbury's near Holborn was still open, so I picked up a few groceries, went home, made myself some dinner, and then looked forward to turning in at a reasonable hour for once!
