After a slow morning at home (didn't go to the gym, very bad!), I remembered that it was time to go out to watch rugby, as it was the first day of the Six Nations tournament.
I didn't leave until 5 PM, even though the game started at 4:30, meaning I only arrived at 5:45 PM, and then had to leave again at 6:30 PM to get to dinner at 7. As soon as I arrived however, I was dissappointed that I hadn't thought to come earlier, as both Cookie and Matt were there, who I hadn't seen in ages! In fact, there were tons of people I hadn't seen in months, including John and James, and got to catch up with Tara, Nat, Lucia and Emily too. It seemed such a crime that so shortly after I arrived (and watched a little bit of England taking down Wales), that I had to go again so quickly. Next game is on Valentine's Day, and you can bet that I'd rather spend my Valentine's Day in a pub cheering on rugby games than bemoaning my single status. Now I know for next time!
Still, I had to get going as I'd promised to meet my friend Marjanne and a friend of hers for dinner at El Gaucho, an Argentine steak place that I'd last been to with my polo club. I'd made reservations for the three of us, but our table wasn't ready when we arrived, so we were stuck sitting in a small alleyway having Quilmes for a bit, before finally we got to sit down. The steak was good, and the conversation interesting. I'd just returned Marjanne's copy of "He's Just Not That Into You" to her, and while I sometimes think it's overly harsh, it's a good reminder every now and then to not let boys stress you out. If they like you, they'll make it known. The only extra that I think the book doesn't state is that perhaps you have to give boys the option to get to know you, and realise quite how fabulous you are. After all, unless you look like a super-model, few men are going to behave in the stalker-ish manner required by the book right from the get-go. At least that's the justification I'm using, because who knows if I really want to date them either? At the end of the day, it's all about getting to know people...
Marjanne also kept trying to convince us to join British Military Fitness, and I have to admit, it sounds like a good way to push myself towards losing weight, as I don't seem to be having much success with things so far.
We lingered over our wine, and eventually moved on to the Zetland Arms for one more drink, although it was surprisingly crowded and noisy. At that point as well I was only having lime and soda water, as I think it was time to go home! Marjanne dropped me off and thanked me for organizing a lovely evening, which I had to admit was a nice night out all around.
